Three platforms, one engineering core. Every RoofRoost model runs the same 3-second pneumatic-hydraulic mechanism, the same aerospace-grade aluminum build, the same compliance backbone. So the question for a brand or retailer building a line isn’t “which one is best” — they’re built to the same standard. It’s “which one should you lead with, given who you sell to?”
Lead with AERO if your buyers skew EV and on-road
AERO is the low-profile platform — the slimmest shell in the range, engineered for the lowest possible drag. Its closed silhouette adds just 5–8% to fuel or range, versus the 15–20% a bulky soft-shell can cost.
That difference is decisive for one fast-growing buyer: the EV owner. For a Rivian, Lightning or Cybertruck driver, range is the whole game, and a tent that barely touches it is a product they’ll pay a premium for. If your channel is trending electric, on-road or highway-speed — overland-adjacent buyers who care about efficiency as much as adventure — AERO is the platform that speaks their language.
Lead with SUMMIT if you want the widest market
SUMMIT is the all-rounder, and it’s the platform most of our partners build their core line around. The clamshell design delivers the best space-to-footprint ratio in the range — sleeping 2–3 comfortably while staying low and aerodynamic on the roof.
Its strength is reach. Overlanders, weekend campers and families all converge on this size class. It’s not the most specialized tool for any one of them, but it’s the one that sells to the most of them — which makes it the natural volume platform for a line that needs broad market appeal. If you’re choosing one platform to anchor everything else, this is usually it.
Lead with OUTPOST if your channel is hardcore
OUTPOST is built for abuse. A reinforced aerospace-aluminum shell and the lineup’s toughest weather sealing make it the choice for hardcore overlanding, expedition use and rental fleets — anywhere durability and protection outrank everything else.
Rated to 5–6 wind force and 2,000–3,000 kPa of rain, it earns its keep under heavy rotation and extreme conditions. For fleet operators, that durability is the ROI: a hard-shell that survives daily cycling and harsh weather means lower maintenance, lower claims and a longer service life. For brands selling to serious expedition customers, it’s the halo product that signals you build for the extreme end.
Most strong lines carry two
Here’s the move successful private-label partners tend to make: they don’t pick one platform — they carry two. A volume platform that sells to the widest market (usually SUMMIT), paired with a halo platform that defines the brand’s edge (AERO for the EV-forward, OUTPOST for the expedition-serious).
The volume platform pays the bills. The halo platform builds the reputation that makes the volume platform easier to sell. Together, they give a line both range and identity — without complicating production, because all three share the same engineering core.
Same core, your name on all of it
Whichever platform you lead with, the customization runs the full depth of the range: logo, shell color, fabric, mattress, mounting, packaging and market-specific compliance labeling. Choose the platform that fits your market, make it yours, and ship it under your brand.
